Yeah, I can see NO REASON for anet not releasing the bonus slots a day early. Some arguments I read were that people would leave their rare items on the new slots, and then be pissed when they couldn't access them b/c they didn't buy the game after the Early Start was over...
so we're being punished for others' stupidity? And wouldn't that be incentive to buy the game anyway?

Exactly. They should at least clarify on the pages mentioned in my prior post, or correct this issue.
If they can give FOUR slots to people for the Preview Events, then surely they can allow people who entered their pre-order key to get two slots. If they don't enter their code within x days, then disable the two extra slots. Simple.

i guess you missed all the bitching, whineing, and moaning after the first event when many people transfered good items over to preorder accounts only to find their favorite items locked away until the next event because they forgot to move them back
some jerk was yelling that Anet should be sued for holding his items for ransom (buying the next chapter) to get his items back.
forget it

It's a disappointment, and I understand since my main account is also filled with four advanced PvE characters. I was also disappointed with the FPE because I could not check out Cantha with my existing characters on my main account. So I deleted my pre-searing character on my second account just to check out the FPE. But anyway, yes it does seem fair that we should have the two slots along with the 24-hour head start, but then again, it's only 24 hours and there's not a whole lot that we would be missing out on. Use that time to take your characters into Cantha and get to know the place a bit.

Hmm, well, I guess this is a case of a whiny few ruining things for the rest.
In this context, it does make sense for Anet just to skip all the commotion!
I've changed my mind (not that it effected me anyway!)

But which slots would they disable? They would have to look through every account to know which slots have factions characters and which slot has prophecies.

Not that hard to code up a program algorithm to check and verify that information. After all they're going to delete those guest accounts from the FPE.

they avoid the problem completely so the time can be spent on the game and not sorting a mess out.
and it is not as easy as you think.
the guest accounts go poof and no sorting needed.
use one of your level 20 characters or if 24 hours on your ass/rit is that important delete and use that slot.
if deleteing is something you cannot do deal with what you have.
they never stated slots with early access

Ok so lets say I have two extra slot now and with the extra 2 I now have 4 open spots. I make an Assassin, Rit, and a new Necro starting in Cantha along with an Assassin pvp character.
They will have to delete 2 of those and lock out 2. Which do they delete? What if I wanted to save a couple of those for when I eventually did buy factions?
Major headache, its better to avoid it all.

This makes perfect sense, the preorder key gives you access to the game 24 hours before anyone else.
The reason behind no extra slots is that they are preventing people from getting annyoyed after the 28 hours period.
Lets say you bought the game online and it arrived Monday May 1st, that means that for Saturday and Sunday you will not be able to play your character on the fifth slot.
I think lots of people would be complaining if that happened.
On another note, I'm more excited on taking one of my current characters to Cantha more than creating a new Rit or Assassin. I spent a year with my current characters and I'm attached to them.

I'd also like to add that for my friends that do not have blank slots available to roll up a new PvE toon, I'll be using that 24 hour access to bring my existing characters over to accompany them. There will be ample time to play with level 0 characters after I get the release in my hands. What is more precious is the chance to have early access and the chance to explore it with friends.
And yes, I'm taking that next day off and I don't plan to sleep.

Exactly.
Taking current toons with friends over to new areas would be much more exciting than playing new ones.

It's also easier to exploit^H^Hre new farming areas with a level 20 as opposed to a level 2 character.
